Virgina Tech Shooting has brought the sad, awful memeories of terror from 2007 Virginia Tech massacre to the minds, this time the death toll is at two, one police officer and the assailant himself.

Washington / NationalTurk – Virginia Tech University is notorious as the scene of the largest single mass shooting in recent US history, when a Virginia Tech student, Seung-Hui Cho, slaughtered 32 people on the campus by shooting before committing suicide. The killing of a police officer at Virginia Tech and discovery of a second body later, caused a massive manhunt on the campus that has become haunted since that fateful day 4 years ago.

Thousands of Virginia Tech students and teachers were trapped for hours by a swift lockdown with horrible images of 2007 massacre slideshowing in their minds as fears swept the campus of a repeat of the earlier tragedy. The manhunt was finally called off when the security forces concluded that the second body was of the man who killed the policeman, a four-year veteran of the campus police.

Deriek Crouse, 39, was a four-year veteran of the university’s force, and is survived by a wife and five children and stepchildren. Crouse was shot shortly after noon in front of several witnesses at a routine traffic stop in a parking lot near Lane Stadium and McComas Hall, a gym and sports building.

Virginia Tech shooting gunman is seen walking up to the police officer, opening fire and killing him in coldblooded fashion. But investigators state that at this time and based on initial reports, they do not believe the gunman was in any way related to the traffic stop at the university. They added a short time later, the body of a second person was discovered on the Virginia Tech campus. Officials suspect the second deceased person was the gunman who killed the officer, who reamains as unidentified yet.

The school issued a campus-wide alert calling on people to stay indoors and advising visitors to stay away from the campus. The alert was later lifted.

Virginia Tech University president Charles Steger said “Today, tragedy again struck Virginia Tech,” in a hastily called afternoon press conference that coincided with the end of the campus alert. “I can only say that words don’t describe our feelings. Our hearts are broken again, for the family of our deceased police officer.”

In 2007, Seung-Hui Cho, who suffered from a severe anxiety disorder, killed 32 people and wounded 25 others in separate attacks about two hours apart. Two years before the massacre, Cho was found by a court to be mentally ill after he was investigated for stalking two female students.

He was mentally aware as he shot himself as the police closed in on him.
