LinkedIn users in shock : 6,5M LinkedIn Passwords Leaked by hackers

LinkedIn users’ concerns are high as 6.5M LinkedIn passwords have been leaked and fell victim to the latest hacker attack.

Social networking site LinkedIn stated on Wednesday that it is investigating reports that over 6.5 million encrypted passwords of LinkedIn users were compromised and posted online on a Russian hacker website. Hackers also posted a file containing encrypted passwords onto a Russian web forum.

LinkedIn, home to nearly 150 million users, suggested the breach is limited to 10 % of the professional network’s users—but that still indicates a huge number of people. The network had already received negative press this week with reports that its iOS app collects full meeting notes and details a device’s calendar and sends them back to the company in plain text.

The news of LinkedIn breach came as LinkedIn was forced to update its mobile app after a privacy flaw was uncovered by independent security researchers.

LinkedIn has not released a formal statement, but tweeted: ‘ Our team is currently looking into reports.’

NationalTurk advices to all LinkedIn users to change their LinkedIn passwords. And if you use the same password on other accounts, change it there too.
