Meltem Cumbul's success at Queens film festThe 7th International Queens Film Festival, organized in New York from Nov. 12 to 15, presented awards to four Turks, including actress Meltem Cumbul, directors Tolga Örnek and Hakkı Subentekin and producer Işıl Bağdadi.

Two Turkish film directors, an actress and a film producer have won awards at the 7th International Queens Film Festival in New York City.

The festival’s Best Director Award went to Tolga Örnek, whose film “Devrim Arabaları” (Cars of the Revolution) was screened at the opening of the festival, while the Best Short Film Award went to young director Hakkı Subentekin, who lives in New York City, for his film “Alicia.”

The movie is a drama about the lives of immigrant women in the United States; according to the director, it was shown for the first time as part of a festival in New York.

Turkish actress Meltem Cumbul received the Woman in Cinema Award for her contributions to cinema and her performance in the film “Gönül Yarası” (Heart Pain), which screened at the festival three years ago. Meltem Cumbul also received the award on behalf of Örnek, who did not attend the event.
