Fierce year 2021 / Patricia Kelly: “I think that saved me”

A severe corona infection and other health problems. According to Patricia Kelly, the past year has been the hardest of her life so far. But she stays strong.

Patricia Kelly had to go through a lot in 2021. Nevertheless, she does not let all the blows of fate get her down. On the contrary: Instead, the singer always tries to draw something positive from it and set new goals. She learned that from her parents.

“Usually, strokes of fate hit us at a distance. But last year they came one after the other,” the 52-year-old tells the “Apotheken-Umschau”. In the fall, Kelly fell ill with Corona, had a severe course that ultimately led to pneumonia. This was followed by an inflammation of the trigeminal nerve in the face and a torn ligament in the foot.

“I actually ran a triathlon”

But Patricia Kelly knows how to deal with such setbacks, as she reports in the interview: “In any case, I don’t cultivate any grudges or negative feelings, and I think that’s always saved me.” At the age of 23, she found out that this way of thinking works and that it helps her advance. At that time she had spinal cord inflammation and was in a wheelchair for a while. Here, too, she set herself a goal – and she achieved it: “Seven years later I actually ran a triathlon.”

In addition to the health problems that 2021 brought for Patricia Kelly, there was also a bereavement in her close family: In April it became known that Barby Kelly died at the age of 45. She was a sister of Patricia Kelly, who used to be on stage with the Kelly Family.
