Historical Gaziantep Castle Was Also Destroyed

The walls of Gaziantep Castle were also destroyed in the earthquake, the epicenter of which was the Pazarcık district of Kahramanmaraş.

The 7.4 magnitude earthquake that occurred in the center of Pazarcık and caused destruction in many cities also destroyed the historical Gaziantep Castle.

Earthquakes with a magnitude of 7.4 and 6.5 to 6.4 occurred in Kahramanmaraş and Gaziantep. While search and rescue efforts were continuing in the region, the historical Gaziantep Castle, one of the symbols of the city, which was built on a hill in the center of Gaziantep, was partially destroyed in the earthquake.

While one bastion of the castle was destroyed, damage occurred in other parts of the castle.

The historical castle from the Roman period was last restored in the 2000s.
