With strong words President Obama has criticized the Russian stance on the Syria crisis. Moscow blocking better care of the civilian population – and am responsible for starvation deaths.

The Western countries are struggling for a common approach to the humanitarian catastrophe in Syria to master. But above it is hardly. Now U.S. President Barack Obama has accused Russia of preventing a resolution for the supply of the Syrian population in the UN Security Council.

This blockade the Russians are just like the Syrians responsible for starving civilians in the war-torn country, Obama said in Washington at a press conference with his French counterpart Francois Hollande.
“There are among most members of the Security Council very much in agreement on this resolution,” Obama said. “Russia is a conscientious objector,” he criticized.

In the Resolution text it go, among other things, the delivery of food, clothing and fuel for besieged Syrian cities, declared two heads of state. For Syria, Obama made clear also that the results of previous peace negotiations were totally inadequate. “No one can deny: There is enormous frustration.” Also Russia must fulfill its responsibilities.

The ambassadors of the 15 Member States of the Security Council first spoke about a proposed resolution on the humanitarian situation in Syria. In the informal exchange of views it had, however, been no first approximation, was reported on Tuesday (local time) from diplomatic circles in New York. Both Russia and the Western states were resting on their opposing viewpoints.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov had rejected the paper before the consultations in New York as “totally unacceptable” and “one-sided” in that it contained an “ultimatum” to Damascus. The UN veto power, Russia is a close ally of the Syrian dictator Bashar al-Assad.
