Anne Hathaway tearfully reveals miscarriage

Anne Hathaway talks about a sad loss: she suffered a miscarriage in 2015. Of all times, when she played a pregnant woman in a play.

Hollywood star Anne Hathaway addresses the public for the first time and speaks about her miscarriage a few years ago. In an interview with Vanity Fair magazine, she said that she lost her unborn baby in 2015. At that time she was on stage for an off-Broadway play.

As a reminder: In July 2019, the actress made her second pregnancy public on Instagram and in the same breath revealed that she and her husband Adam Shulman, to whom she has been married since 2012, had gone through “the hell of infertility and conception” because of it. Apparently it wasn’t easy for the couple to have children.

Even before she became pregnant with her first son, Jonathan, now seven, she had a miscarriage. For over six weeks, Hathaway portrayed a fighter pilot whose career ended when she unexpectedly became pregnant, she now says. “At first I couldn’t handle it at all,” she remembers. “I had to re-enact a birth on stage every night.”

“It’s really hard”

Not making the miscarriage public at the time had put her under enormous strain. “It was too much for me, not being able to talk about it while I had to pretend on stage as if everything was okay. I had to tell the truth…” She later told her friends about it. In the interview, she tearfully explains that it’s “really hard” to “want something so badly and wonder if you’re doing something wrong.”

With her post in 2019, Hathaway wanted to encourage others. Alongside a black-and-white photo of her baby bump, she wrote at the time: “Jokes aside, for anyone going through infertility and conception hell, know that there was no direct path to one of my pregnancies. I send you all much love.”
