Argentina / NationalTurk – El Diego, the Argentine legend still carries -the best footballer ever- brand and Maradona clearly thinks that his compatriot Lionel Messi is a football messiah and his successor at being the best. Maradona also keynotes the difference between Messi and Ronaldo’s personalities : Maradona openly slammed Ronaldo by stating : Messi scores a goal and celebrates. Cristiano Ronaldo scores a goal and poses like he’s in a shampoo commercial.

Both forwards are the clear favorites to win the FIFA Ballon d’Or 2012 after an impressive season at club level, yet Diego Armando Maradona feels Ronaldo is nowhere near his Argentine rival, Messi.

‘ Cristiano Ronaldo will never be at the same level as Messi. Lionel Messi doesn’t need Cristiano Ronaldo’s powerful shot. Messi just dribbles towards the goal into the net with the ball at his feet,’ Maradona stated to an Argentine tv channel.

Maradona continued slamming Ronaldo with Messi comparison :

However, the legendary Maradona had a different opinion during the European Championship, slamming Ronaldo: ‘ The world’s second best player, chasing Lionel Messi, seemed so frustrated and petulant when playing for Portugal. ‘

‘ When Ronaldo won the Ballon d’Or he told Messi ‘No more second places’. Now silver is the best he can achieve,’ emphasizing the level Messi has reached in 2012 and Messi’s current fitness and form suggests this new season will be another milestone year for Messi.

Meanwhile, the 1986 World Cup winner legend is not shy at all to mention that he is flattered to see people comparing him with Lionel Messi.

‘ I don’t really like comparisons. Nevertheless, the comparison with Lionel is a beautiful thing. We are both left-footed, Argentine, and brilliant.’ an jubiliant Maradona says.

Lionel Messi scored an impressive 73 goals in all competitions for Barcelona in 2011-12 season which is a record hard to be broken.

Meanwhile NationalTurk posted an interesting article about Maradona’s two brothers, who are both former footballers and both are currently even more popular than their big brother El Diego in Argentina. The interesting story also includes a video of Lola Maradona, the youngest Maradona brother.

Lola Maradona mocks his non-existent football talent and himself in this hillarious tv ad video.

On other Maradona news the Argentine football legend Diego Maradona recently cut loose as manager by Dubai’s Al Wasl. His sacking brought along speculations that Maradona will get to helm at his former club Boca Juniors.

However Maradona personally said he is not needed at Boca at the moment. But he had a few negative words for Boca star Juan Roman Riquelme who recently left the Argentine club.

Maradona backed up current Boca coach Julio Cesar Falcioni at a time when Falcioni had been questioned by Boca fans after the club blew the Argentine league title in the last two weeks of season and lost the Copa Libertadores final to Brazil’s Corinthians.

  1. Still on d matter, there is nothing wrong in thinking Messi is a better player bcos evryone has a right to hold an opinion.U donot need to bash Ronaldo to make Messi look good. If Maradona has to insult CR7 to make his boy look good den it means there is something CR7 has which Messi doesn’t else no need for such tactic. There truely is something special about CR7 so much that d only way Messi can be made to look good is by insulting CR7. On d issue of posing while celebrating goals, all I can say is CR7 got style, plus his game is never affected by his personal life which I must say is awesome compared to some peeps who have no life outside football. Plus CR7 puts in so much for his country as well. If Maradona is going senile he shd be put in a mental home. No body messes with Cristiano Ronaldo Dos Santos Aveiro and gets away with it

  2. Its pathetic that some people have to resort to this kind of behaviour in an attempt to bring a great player down. Messi has achieved a lot individually and has achieved even more with his club but Ronaldo had the better season this time around. Ronaldo has proved that he can still grow as a player.

  3. Maradona is obviously a frustrated old man who’s failed career as a coach has taken away his reasoning ability. Pele a true legend wld not open his mouth and vomit unwarranted rubbish.Ronaldo is a brand he is a footballer slicker than ur average and talking shit about him won’t make him less as gud. It will only make him stronger. Diego shd be ashamed. CR7 is d bomb. Anyone who has a problem wit him shd take a trip to d Bermuda triangle…. U heard me Diego

  4. What maradona is saying is totally bullshit ronaldo was never been under messi they used to b 50-50 but now messi is overtaken by ronaldo, christiano is talented bro u cant change it,about goal scoring luk at his header classic, about dribbling u dont know which leg is he gonna hold the ball which is awesome, about freekicks i dont have to mention anything i can just say look how he step back 3 meters away frm the ball and look how he stands (he stand at akimbo) which is brilliant ronaldo is the best in the world
