National mourning in Jordan: Princess Rajwa’s father is dead

The Jordanian royal family has announced that Princess Rajwa's father has died at the age of 71. King Abdullah II ordered three days of national mourning.

It was the royal wedding of last year: In June 2023, Jordanian Crown Prince Hussein bin Abdullah gave the Saudi Arabian architect Rajwa Khalid Alseif his vows.

At the pompous ceremony with numerous prominent aristocratic guests, the 29-year-old beamed with happiness. A few months later, the princess now has to cope with a severe blow of fate.

Her father, Khaled bin Musaed bin Saif bin Abdulaziz Al-Saif, died at the age of 71. The Jordanian royal family announced this in a statement that was also published on the family’s official Instagram account.

Accordingly, the businessman died on February 18th. A cause of death was not given. “May his soul rest in peace,” the statement said. King Abdullah II ordered three days of national mourning.

Crown Prince Hussein also dedicated emotional words to the deceased. “It is with deep sadness and great pain that we say goodbye to my beloved father-in-law. We will always remember his kindness, generosity and sincerity.

May God have mercy on him and give us peace and strength,” the 29-year-old wrote on his own Instagram -Account for a photo that shows both men in an embrace.

Khaled Al-Saif leaves behind his wife Azza Al Sudairi and their four children Faisal, Naye, Dana and Rajwa. The Princess and Crown Prince Hussein of Jordan have been married since June 1, 2023.

The wedding in Amman was attended by more than 1,700 guests, including British royals Princess Kate and Prince William, King Frederik and Queen Mary of Denmark, and King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima of the Netherlands.
